Transformasi Madrasah: Kurikulum, Pengelolaan, dan Posisinya dalam Sistem Pendidikan Nasional Indonesia

Abstract


Madrasahs play an important role in Indonesia’s national education system as institutions that integrate religious and general education. This study aims to analyze the development of madrasahs within the national education system, including curriculum transformation, driving factors of change, and the dynamics of public and private madrasahs. The study employs a literature review method using a narrative review approach. Data were collected from 25 scholarly sources, including books, articles, and academic journals. The literature was selected based on topic relevance, source credibility, and its relation to the development of madrasahs in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques. The findings indicate that the transformation of madrasahs has been driven by educational modernization, advances in science and technology, and government policies supporting curriculum integration. This transformation has contributed to improving the quality of learning and enhancing graduates’ competitiveness. However, the transformation process still faces various structural and managerial challenges, particularly regarding the quality of human resources, institutional governance, and funding disparities between public and private madrasahs. Therefore, strengthening educational management, improving teacher competencies, and ensuring equitable financial support are essential to enhance the quality of madrasahs in addressing contemporary educational challenges.
