Transformasi Perguruan Tinggi Islam Di Indonesia Dalam Menjaga Esensi Pendidikan Islam: STI, UII, PTAIN, Dan Al-Jamiah

Abstract


This study aims to analyze the development and transformation of Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia, specifically from the Islamic College (STI) to the State Islamic University (UIN), within the framework of scientific integration and educational modernization. The issues examined include the dynamics of institutional change and the factors influencing it. The research method used is a literature study with a historical approach through a review of various sources, such as books, scientific journal articles, and relevant documents. The results indicate that the transformation of Islamic higher education institutions is influenced by the role of Islamic figures, organizations, and government policies in responding to the need for education that integrates religious and general knowledge. The development from STI to the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), then to the State Islamic University (PTAIN) and finally to the State Islamic University (UIN), reflects the institution's ability to adapt to the demands of the times. Furthermore, scientific integration is a key characteristic that distinguishes Islamic higher education institutions from other educational institutions.
